Picea engelmannii in the Midwest

Hi all,

I've been looking over things from different suppliers and was wondering if anyone has had good success with Engelmann spruce cultivars in the Midwest.

Do they withstand our heat and humidity and keep the great foliage color that I see in photos online?

I've been looking in particular at the dwarf called 'Jasper' and one supplier has some that are 24-30" wide. Do you think it is distinct enough compared to blue spruce cultivars like 'St. Mary's Broom' or other smaller blues to give it a place on the order? Will 'Jasper' throw up a leader in time or does it remain globose indefinitely?

Thanks,
Bruce
