Larix laricina (American Larch/Tamarack) in east TN?

A friend sent me some Larix laricina (American Larch/Tamarack) seeds as part of a trade. I have a place to plant them if they have any chance of survival here. I could plant them in a spot with full sun in the morning and midday, but evening shade. The spot does slightly flood for short periods every few years. Any chance of survival?

Should be OK for a while at least, though they might not be very long-lived in a climate that is warber than ideal. You could expect perhaps 20 or 30 year lifespan instead of 60-100 or more. Resin

To add detail to Resin's sound info, I've got a few here that are doing well after 5.5 or 6 years. If you're in the mountains, you might have cooler summers than I've got here. They live in bogs near the southern end of their range, so I'd think the occasional flooding would be OK. I've got one in a pot and one in the ground. Some bonsai folks have them around here, too. -James
