Yellow Conifers in Colorado in early Feb -- el' 6500'

Dominant trees for area: scrub oak, Pinus ponderosa, scrub oak

Had a very mild January (only a trace of snow for the month), and hardly any obnoxious wind in Dec or Jan.
Did have a cold early December and plenty of early season snow. I think the cold has brought out the yellow color a little better this year.

Pinus virginiana 'Wates Golden'
notes: acquired locally, 10-12" annual growth (fast for CO), spectacular cones in Spring, lime green (summer) to yellow (winter) color.

Pinus virginiana 'Wates Golden' winter colorado

Pinus sylvestris 'Gold Coin'
note: acquired from greer gardens in spring 2009 (best tree in the batch, except for a large branch that was broken during shipping), turned yellow earlier than wates golden ... and seems to have better overall yellow color. A little bit of growth in first year, but not much (dwarf growth rate) ...
