very cool find. You're right in that there doesn't seem to be any golden variegated Sequoia out there. Definitely get it propagated. I think you have a winner.

That sure looks like Sequoiadendron giganteum at first glance. Also, there's at least two golden/variegated sempervirens, as I grow 'Don's Gold Strike'(variegated) and 'Silba's Golden'(Light chartreuse/gold').

I hope it's not to yellow for propagation, there must be some chlorophyl in it 's branches...

Agree that it is not a coast redwood/sequoia.
I wonder if a yellow mutation has never been found in that because the hexaploid nature of the species means that the genetic error would have to be identically propagated to multiple alleles. In any case it's nice looking and will be of interest to those who can grow Sequoiadendron, even if there are already a couple variegated ones.

It's a Sequoia sempervirens for sure, this one has nothing to do with a Sequoiadendron giganteum.
Please take a closer look to it's branch and leave structures...

Edwin's right; there's no doubt it's Sequoia sempervirens, but the lack of green is a concern. In the upper left portion of the branch, some green and bright yellow can be seen coexisting on the same branch.

Perhaps grafting it and leaving the understock to grow for a period of time would be helpful in getting this plant established...

If you have the ability to pick and choose, Sam, I'd take grafts that were all-yellow and half yellow. If you can somehow get the all-yellow grafts to take/grow, you'll have a very beautiful/special tree indeed.

Hhhhhmmm. The foliage is shorter and more awl shaped than most Sequoia semprevirens. I'll wait for a final determination from Resin. OTOH, the photograph is not close enough to make it easy.

The green foliage looks like the semi-dwarf cultivar Sequoia semprevirens 'Cantab' - shorter, bluer leaves than normal Sequoia semprevirens.

Sam, several years ago I also found a simular mutation.
Several scions were propagated but they died later on because of a lack of chlorophyl...
