Any disease-susceptibility info anyone? I've had to sadly conclude that it no longer makes any sense to plant P. pungens in the landscape around here, what with the horrible beating these things seem to be taking from Cytopsora/Rhyzospheara/a host of newer and apparently more virulent blights, cankers, and other assorted maladies.

That hybrid looks like a nice tree.

It's a nice tree but for me here in the Pacific Northwest, it grows *incredibly* fast. We're talking 16-24 inches a year, and growing wider as well than the above photos. It's also one of the most painfully sharp trees I grow, though that's not too different from many of the Sitka/Colorado spruce line.

5 years in the ground, roughly 7 years old. It has about two years left at this spot, and possibly my gardens period.

Will and sluice, thanks for the photos and info. Fast growth is not a problem for the area I'm thinking of, as I would like one that I can see a tree growing there reasonably soon, rather than, in say 20 years. Thanks again!
