I have not seen Mountain Dew or Donna's Rainbow in person or a semi mature plant. Anyone that has them if you had to choose which one do you like better? Thanks
there is a reason its called enabling.. not 'being helpful' ... double lol
here is the answer.. note the annual growth rate on MD... it went crazy ... after this pic .... even w/o a scale... cant you see the approx 10 inch leader growth the prior spring.. and what.. 8 inch lateral????
that pic is 2009 .. i bet its easily twice as big.. today ...
now look at DR ... what do you see.. 3 to 5 inch leader growth??? ... this is.. and always will be.. a squat little pungens ...
so the equation seems pretty simple to me.. how much space do you have... today.. and in 10 years ...
ken
ps: i am sad to see colby in the pic .. he is gone... and this must be one of the first pix i posted since he left us a year back or so ... and God help me.. i bet he is in half my thousands of pix... lol .. wonder how he missed the other pix... lol
I never noticed because it is so hard to tell on pictures sometimes. The reports I had seen put it at 4'x3' after 10. Well, if it puts on that much the it would not be a good choice for me where I want to put a plant. The Donna's Rainbow would be the best choice.
I have 'Donna's Rainbow'. Quite a bit bluer then yours Ken. I will post a photo tomorrow if we don't get that 12" of snow forecast. I suppose there are variations of color intensity associated with this cultivar.
Ken, sorry to hear about your dog. Along with my daughters my 7 year old puppy makes life so rewarding. I too see her randomly in ever other pic I take!
Sorry to hear you lost your dog Ken. My dog Roger is a good garden companion and I'd be lost with out him. Can talk to him and he never argues or talks back, and always seems to agree with every idea I have. Do your self and some lucky dog a favor and go to the pound and get a new one. Every dog is special and has a unique personality, I think they add so much to a home and garden
