I have been to several and to many regional conferences. I have never been sorry that I went. My first National Conferance was in Oregon and I have tried to attend a Conference every year. The conferenes are filed with bus trips, food, friendship and of course plant purchases. You will board buses that take you to see wonderful public, and private gardens, and fantastic nurseries. There have been gardens that I would have never gotten a chance to see if it would not have been for the conference. Visits to nurseries that contain plants - Conifers - that I have only read about and because of the conference - we were able purchases. There are also visits to scenic areas as well. On the National Conf trip to Oregon we went to see the Mt Hood and eat at the Timberline Lodge at the base of Mt Hood, some others with more energy hiked in the woods. Unbelievable! Each meeting there is a banquet and a plant auction. There are plants sold at these auctions that are lets say "very limited editions" But if that is not enough after the meeting on Sunday morning before you go home there are more plants for sale in the parking lot. And if you did not have enough gardens, and nurseries, memembers open there homes, their gardens to anyone that would like to take the time either before the conference or after the conferece to visit. But I think that the best part of the conference are the members. An unbelievable wealth of information. And always willing to share. With this group there are no stupid questions. Yes I guess you can tell that I have had a good time at these conferences, and plan to be at the one in Washington -- Hope to see you there. Mike |

| Thanks, Mike! Are there vendors set up at the conference or mostly just nurseries that you visit? I am going from the hosta conventions where they have a vending area with growers from all over the country selling plants. Unfortunately, I won't be in Washington...but maybe in 2008??? |

Well it sounds a little different from the Hosta Conference. You can purchase plants at the auction on Sat Night. Good stuff, but ocassionally competitive. Sometimes there are stops at nurseries during the conference. Most always there are a few nurseries set up in the parking lot on Sunday, selling plants that they brought to the conference. And there is always a list of local nurseries that are open prior to or after the conference. I have always came back with a car full of conifers. And if you fly there has always been ways to ship you plants back. |

I checked the ACS web page and I did not see any info on the 2008 convention. Where, exactly, is the info about the 2008 convention in Iowa. That will be close enough for me to attend. Thanks, Mike |

| Hi Mike, I was at a garden symposium last weekend and Gary Whittenbaugh was one of the presenters. He mentioned it...I haven't seen it advertised anywhere, yet. |

Are you talking about the 2007 conference in Seattle? If so, go to the link below, then look at the very first event listed. If you are talking about 2008 - I doubt if they have all the details worked out for that yet. Hope this helps |
Here is a link that might be useful: ACS

| Thanks Plantman. Yes, I was talking about the 2007 convention in Seattle. The only information available is the "flyer" and post-conference "flyer", which is all great information about the tours, but I don't see any details on meetings, cost, how to register, etc. Are you seeing that info somewhere on the website, or will that be posted later, or ??? |
