Any idea how old the Thujopsis dolabrata Nana is
as there are two clones one that grows faster.Its
odd that this plant never makes an upright leader.
I know that they also have Thujopsis dolabrata var
hondae in the collection.

I don't recall anybody ever having posted a photo of a large specimen of Picea abies 'Pachyphylla' on this forum.
Couldn't find photos anywhere else either (are the long shoots a reversion?).
Ditto for the large Thujopsis dolabrata 'Nana'.

Jaro, could be reversion, have looked at this plant over many years, and this is the first time this has occurred

Picea abies 'Pachyphylla' is pretty slow growing for the first 10 years, later on it grows pretty fast.
Last year the 'Pachyphylla' in my Pinetum made a growth of 60 cm and is now totaly 1.80m in hight.

If the aberrant growth doesn't develop later on at least part of the uppermost, normal-looking shoots then these would be reversions - and the cultivar characteristics will be lost eventually if these are not pruned out.

tj, most of the main plantings seem to date back to 1976, so it's my guess the omorika 'Nana' is about forty years old, I would estimate the size as 13-14ft high x 9-10ft across the base.
