Picea engelmannii 'Blue Magoo' Winter Hardiness

Is anyone successfully growing this particular cultivar in zone 4 or lower? Its rated anywhere from zone 1 to zone 3.

I have three in three different exposures. They are all from different sources. All three have severe dieback.

Its a strange mystery to me based on these details.

One is near a Bush's Lace which shows no burn. Another is near Abies concolor 'Compacta' and bosnian pine both of which are zone 5 and show little to no burn.

The other is by ACER PALMATUM that shows no dieback.

Is this plant's winter hardiness mis-represented or is this just a fluke?

All the "other" plants I called out are about the same size and actually planted at later dates.

I'm confused Will - Where did you see zone 1 to 3 at? I looked everywhere and I saw anywhere from zones 1 through 6.

I planted mine in the fall... This was one of the ones I think I lost because of the severe cold winter and excess rain/snow. It's showing a brown tint to it. I was planning on replacing it with another Blue Magoo this spring, but now I'm second guessing myself since I'm in zone 6.

Do you have any pics so I can compare with the one I have that I think is going out?

I found the cold hardiness range to be anywhere from zone 1 to zone 3.

If it was rated to zone 5 I might not be as surprised but P. engelmannii is one of the most cold hardy species so seems a bit strange to me.
