Couldn't possibly be a broom.Sams walked right by the
mugo twice that I know of and hasn't said a thing.Usually
you'll hear his broom - detector go off.I'll give it a close look

When I saw the first pic, I spotted the part that you circled in the subsequent posting. It's hard to tell if it is a broom or just congested normal growth. Often, the branch of a broom is larger than the branch on which it is growing. Such a characteristic is seldom seen in growths that are not brooms. Keep us posted!

I'm sorry to dissapoint you Edwin,but it turns out to be a
somewhat conjested group of second year buds and is no
different from its neighbor branches.The entire plant received a vigorous internal pruning and clean out in Dec.
and the remaining exterior is visually enhanced.Its one of the more attractive mugos in this garden but still ranks
behind Jacobsen to my eye.Thanks for your alertness.Doug
