There's been quite a bit of confusion over 'Abies mexicana'. The type specimen turns out to be close to A. vejarii, so Coniferjoy is correct on the status of the name.
However, the plant with foliage reminiscent of Abies grandis (including Blueyew's specimen here) and often thought to be "Abies mexicana" is actually not that at all, but Abies coahuilensis.
