Hey, Jarpe, all the brooms you're showing us are big one's growing at the top of the trees.
Did you never found smaller one's which were growing at side branches?

Well, my job is mainly to scout the terrain and make plans and estimations and then others do the actual work. I walk through lots and lots of forest covered area, wich is why i keep bumping into these rare trees.

Yes, coniferjoy, but side branch brooms i have seen are mainly in sylvestris and often they die quite soon because of lack of light. in my case Itôs more rare to find this kind of broom in abies. Maby in abies leader has stronger tendency to create mutations than sidebranch or maby brooms are just hard to notice in thick tree . I found one little sidebroom in felled picea abies just a few weeks ago. I still have peace of it in a snowpile behind my house.

Jarpe, Your job sounds like it would be a feast for the eyes! It beats the heck out of working in the city,I love getting away from the city noise! Nice abies broom!
