It's Sciadopitys verticillata 'Waterfall' instead of 'Water Fall'.
He got this one from me...

I still have a hard time to believe he's not around us anymore...

Hi Ken ....I will start/try to take pics tomorrow. We are getting for another snow storm ...could be a major one and I snow plow commercially. May have to be another post.

Hi Coniferjoy...what can you tell me about 'Waterfall' ?

It's the best weeping form I ever came across of this species.
It was found in a Dutch forest...

One more question Edwin.....Has the mystery ever been solved regard the proper name of Ab. c. 'Lower Shaded' yet? I do recall it was reported as a hybrid of lasiocarpa and concolor and even the name was subject to some controversy?

    Kudos on some great plants.

Be sure to spread them around - Dennis' legacy can live on indefinitely.

Kevin, the 'Lower Shaded' problem ain't fixed yet, and I guess it will never be done...
This is because several people gave their own names to this conifer which causes problems.
Also a lack of communication about these names is a cause for this.

This is a pic of the original Sciadopitys verticillata 'Waterfall'

Does anyone besides kmanzfive own Sciadopitys verticillata 'Waterfall' ? Do we know if this cultivar made it beyond Bethlehem? Also, is there something unique about the process of grafting Sciadopitys ? I wonder why a lot of the nurseries don't seem to sell it...Dennis seemed to have a niche market with this genus.

Edwin, I don't see it listed on your website. Do you sell it? Any history on who found it?

Very unique conifer, would love to acquire one of these.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

With the weeping branches, it might hold up better to a snow or ice load. I wonder, does it weep when grown in the sun?
    I like it!
What's with a Japanese Umbrella Pine growing wild in a Dutch forest?

Shawn, I can tell you that the 'Waterfal' didn't make it beyond Dennis, because he was the only one who received scions from the original specimen.

It's not on my website yet, I guess it will be next season.

My buddy Erik found it in a Dutch forest, there was another one nearby with a "normal" growing habit...

Thanks Edwin.. so either kmanzfive will have to share the wealth or we will need to wait until you can send some scions back with a US plantsman... I think it will be a big hit, very unique for Sciadopitys.

One plant made it to my garden in NJ and I know that at least one is in CT. I need to check and see if this made it to Rare Tree Nursery or Broken Arrow.

Correction. There is not a maple called
    Woodsman x Pink Royalty

It is Magnolia Woodsman x Pink Royalty

It is registered by me as

Magnolia 'Dennis Ledvina'. And I have been in contact with DD for years. There must be a mix up.

Could you please post a picture of the Sciadopitys v. 'Weeper #2' you picked up at Bethelehem Nursery after the death of Dennis Dodge? I reckon you got his "mother plant" - and I will compare it with my 9 years old graft from the same source.

Sciadopitys verticillata 'Weeper #2'. Do you know what happened to this plant from Dennis Dodge after he left us? I would appreciated to view a picture of it now - as the picture I have from DD must be some years old. Anyone who can help. I - myself -have a soon 9 year graft from it.
