Picea abies 'Cupressina' - Question

We have a space on the side of our yard, where it meets the sidewalk- that i would like to plant something semi fast growing and wont get too wide for the spot. I was looking at some common Thuja's from Costco, also looking at Degroots Spire.... then i came across this Picea abies 'Cupressina' on Japanesemaplesandevergreens.com
It shows fast growing 10-15' wide, which isnt an issue but Im wondering if you can trim it at all to make it more narrow?

I have included a link. it shows 4 yr graft. What do you think the size of that would be? Thank you!

when its 15 feet wide... it will be 40 feet tall .. how big a ladder do you have?

and if you trim only as far as you can reach ... do you think you will like the result ...

This is not a conifer you ever shear. It is narrow enough on its own.

Just a thought...what happens when it becomes so tall you can't reach the foliage to shear? Then you have an out of balanced look that is not correctable.

How far from the walk are you planting it?

The one here was 6 ft. tall when planted 10 years ago. Now 17 ft. tall and 40 inches wide. It has opened up slightly after enduring 30 inches of wet snow in March but is recovering.

Oh wow, so i was picturing it much wider than that picture Dave. If it was a similar width, i would not need to shear it at all. Height isnt an issue but width is. I dont know if thats the right tree for the area though. We have about 10 feet by 15 feet of space to fill. This is on the side so not viewable from the house, but will block the view from our driveway to the main street. Was thinking of a mixed hedge of Thujas and maybe that will end up being the best option.

Not a dwarf: known over 60' tall at the Seattle (USDA 8) arboretum. Have not taped this specimen myself in recent years but if the average crown spread is only 1/3 the height it will still be more than 20'.
