| Driving from Poulsbo to Silverdale yesterday, I spotted a golden branch on a Douglas Fir. Looks like it might be worth propagating!

Nice find Sam! Is this branch mutation at the sunny side of the plant? Normaly seen such a light coloured needles will burn in full sun...

Thanks, Edwin. This branch mutation was growing on the north east side of the plant so it only gets morning and early afternoon sun. I thought that 'Lightning' was an appropriate name because it was a rather stormy day and my mother thought she had seen lightning in that exact spot shortly before we saw the branch mutataion! :0) -Sam

Good color. Dax

Looks nice, good growth rate and interior needle retention. I have seen some Douglas Fir branch coloration caused by small fractures in the branch, but yours appears to be a true and not due to stress or branch cracking... one way to find out, graft it!
