It was planted last fall and then transplanted to different part of the patio a few weeks later after determining we needed something that would much more quickly provide some privacy from the 2nd floor windows of a neighbors house. So, 6ft+ Juniper Skyrockets were put in the place these used to be that I hope to be 10-12ft tall each in a few years. See photo.
4 of these were moved to new locations on the same day last fall and this is the only one of the 4 that has these brown branches near the ground and randomly in other spots, so I was wondering if maybe the drip line to it has a problem or it has a disease issue.

most likely.. my theory is.. that stout young men grab stock to toss off and onto pallets/trucks/etc .. so.. shipping damage ... or you.. dragging them around from teh car trunk.. and on transplanting ...

track back the damaged part.. and cut at a Y where there is green growth ...

you better learn how to tame those skyrockets .. they can easily get 6 to 8 feet wide near the bottom as they go up ..

I got those skyrockets for that location because they are not supposed to get more the 3 feet wide at the ground and will quickly grow tall enough to block the view from the second floor window of a neighbor's house.

See the description in the link below. It sounded ideal for what I wanted (narrow plant that will provide a tall privacy screen along a fence).
