were they deeply watered late into fall ...

what is the base soil type ...

how did you plant them .. what did you amend with.. and what did you fert with

how did you prepare the root mass at planting..

what was the source... bigboxstore potted??? ...

if you have a warranty.. exercise it

I lost five this year which was the most I have ever lost in one season.they were all fall planted new conifers. We had horrible ice storms and unusually cold weather.Someone mentioned your not a true expert until you've lost at least three,that might have been Ken.They don't look to me as if they are total goners yet though.Maybe they can still recover.I would just chalk it up to the horrible weather and call it a chance to replant and redesign.

Pretty much toast. Of course you know the dead part will never regenerate. If you leave them they will not be balanced in growth which leads me to say, remove them.

They were from Home Depot and we planted them properly according to instructions. I'll try and find the receipt I hope they refund us. Ugh so much wasted effort! Such a tough winter, so much snow this year :(
