Well, they do grow in "muskegs, bogs, bottomlands, and relatively dry peatlands" so they should be ok.

That's what I read, that's why I planted them in a lowland area. I guess I mean, will they look reasonably attractive? Sometimes trees in spots like that can be kind of scruffy.

I've seen both good and bad in swampy areas of northern Wisconsin. I have a young (1m) one in the lowest part of my yard and it seems ok although not as wet as your area.

What I've got isn't particularly wet, (not standing in water) but it is prone to occasional flooding when we get 2" rains. It is fairly well-drained, as it is chocolate-black, organic loam over top a 100 foot deep bed of gravel. (At least that's what it was when we had a well drilled) Any water usually goes down within 2 days.

Yes, I understand the difference. Black spruce grows naturally in boggy conditions, and that doesn't mean that the things are planted as 10 foot tall trees... Those seedlings have to establish in those conditions for mature trees to be there. I was just curious as to the overall adaptability of Black spruce, and what anybody's personal experience with it was.
