| Hello there fellow conifer enthusiants! I posted on this site some 5 years ago and said that i had a sequoia sempervirens(aka coastal redwood) that i've grown in michigan for some 7-8 growing seasons. it goes outside sometime mid april and comes into a florida type room for the winter. it does show some stress in early spring but overcomes anything during the summer. it is in a pot and is probably root bound. i noted then that i would like to donate this plant to somebody / university ? in a climate that it can survive. any and all thoughts on this i would appreciate! thanks, mark. |

The University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum ... the UM place in dixboro??? the list is endless .... congrats on your success ... have you considered lack of hardening off to the intensity of sunlight in spring as a reason it suffers when you bring it out of its florida room cave??? ken |
