Hi, We have a problem with our Deodar Cedar. There was a stabilizing wire that we missed after planting the tree about 6 years ago.
Last fall we noticed and removed the wire but not before a wound had developed around the trunk. This growing season it's obvious that the top above the girdling wound is not doing as well as the bottom half.
While there is still some new growth on the top it's no where as good as the bottom below the damage.
After researching on the web we are going to try Doc Farwell Seal & Heal to close the wound. I plan on cleaning the wound by cutting out any obvious damaged wood and cleaning it with denatured alcohol. Then applying Doc Farwell Seal & Heal.
Has anyone have any advice or comments. We really want to save her if we can.
