What's your goal in this cross?

Looks like it might be too late for the cones on the Picea glauca 'Pendula' to receive pollen.

The Picea abies 'Reflexa' looks much more promising!

No specific goal, Edwin, but they are two of my favorite cultivars, and I love weepers, so just figured something interesting might come of it.

In the future, what should I look for to tell, Sam?

Two things could be indicators of whether it's too late to cross-pollinate:
1. If the cones are already hanging down, that indicates that they are past the receiving stage.
2. In the case of Picea glauca, the cones should go from a red/purple to a green color. It seems that these cones are beginning to turn brown..
If they feel dry at all, that's really how you could tell.

Show us in a few weeks how they look, and we will have a better idea! :-)
