Dwarf Evergreen

GVZ Architects

I'd like to plant a dwarf evergreen in a corner of my south facing back yard, in front of a brick monument so as to obscure the open back side of the monument. It would be next to a fence so wouldn't get morning sun but should be in sun for the rest of the day. The monument is about 6' high. Ideally I'd like something that will not get taller than 6'-8' and fairly narrow, no more than 3' or so. I like cypress but am not familiar enough with them. Also, I'd like it to get tall enough quickly so as to obscure the area without my having to wait 5 years. Any recommendations? I have a brownstone back yard in Brooklyn. You can see the area in the photo - there's a funny shaped yew there right now.
