Love Cathaya for its rarity but not to sound jealous - wonder if Sciadopitys will look similar and overall have superior ornamentality. All the Cathayas I've seen seem to be taking their time forming a leader. Is that just a byproduct of propagation? OTOH, young umbrellas pines start movin' on up right away.

Just planted a S. s. 'Atlanta', so I now have that, 2 'Swarthmore Hardy' which could be the same as 'Chapel Hill', and a 'Soquel'. All well over 100 ft. from any buildings! Soquel finally took off last year and grow almost 3', they seem to take their time getting rooted here. How long ago did you plant that one and have you fertilized it?

BTW I don't really like blue conifers (except maybe if I lived on top of a mountain) but that 'Simpson Silver' is impressively blue!

Your Wollemia looks beautiful!

Very nice pictures. In Charleston, my wollemia is flushing out right now as well. My Cathaya, seems to be a bit behind yours and has been very slow to push growth. I love the Sequoia. I found a Hendersons Blue to try. Keep posting pictures! love them!
