I have had 3 messages in my email for several months now requesting how I did the shade cloth on my 'Skylands'.
Now that time permits I will do a quick post on the subject. It's not a real big deal
Needed.
60/40 shade cloth. Buy what you think you need. Sold by the ft.in 4 ft widths.
10 ft. lengths of 1/2" EMT electrical conduit. How many depends upon the area you are screening. I need 3 to cover the southwest side of the 'Skylands'.
3 ft. of 3/4 EMT cut in 1 ft. lengths for sleeves for the 1/2 EMT support. Flatten them on one end so they drive easily.
Sample of my screen with the 3 3/4 EMT sleeves
Center punch pipe on 1 ft. centers for hex head screw placement A Battery pack drill and hex head driver work best for placement.
Installed screen. I have removed it on cloudy days. Just lift out of sleeves roll up and store. Remove it for the winter or on days people are coming over.
Have someone help you for the placement of sleeves. Getting them centered right is critical. If using two widths just ty-wrap the ends together as shown here.
