Juniper shyrocket

I am on the northwest side of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I have a narrow bed (5-6') on the west side of a swimming with brutal western sun all year. I have been told juniper skyrocket will do well there and help block the sum. There is no extra room for root expansion (except down and about 5" out to the edge of the swimming pool) as there is a retaining wall and a swimming pool. I would be planing at least 8 trees, so it would be an investment. Is this wise advice to follow?
