I also like the 'Pine Grove Gold'.
Do you know the history of it?

I do know the history of the Abies nordmanniana 'Lime Lights'.
It was found by you as a seedling selection.
I like it's spring colour very much!

Thanks guys. I see Pine Grove Gold is a smashing hit. Too bad I planted it at my neighbors house, lol. No, I'll get to enjoy it just as much as if it were on my own property.

Edwin, Pine Grove Gold came from Kevin Fechke and I've sent an email to him just now.

    Thanks guys. Kind comments.

I don't have any background info and Kevin has been difficult to make contact with, lately. He shipped it to me and I refused to plant a 'Doug fir' on my property but my neighbor will plant anything. There's nothing more I can say other than it's going to have to get grafted by several folks. Inquire about scionwood next-year and I'll pass it around.

    Pseudotsuga menziesii, 'Hillside Gold'.
don't know where it got the name because I don't see much gold.
As you can see the older needles aren't very long, but the new growth this year is just fine. I will repot it in a few weeks. It will be very interesting to see what it does in the future. I wonder how large it will get.

The 'Gold' here is a couple of Yews. One vertical and one spreading. Most of the color is from a deciduous Azalea.
The handles are from a shovel, fork, and a rake. I put them tight against a tree when showers pass through. It's a long way to the garage.

    Hey Dax
I'm Baaack!! Sorry for the delay guys been working long hours. On the 'Pine Grove Gold' all I can say is that it came from Vermont and several were given to a friend of mine. The person that gave it to me is a hermit, he don't like to talk or give out info. I think he has one in the field in a pot .....so their maybe one available. If anyone is interested. It wont be in great shape(pot bound). Mine wasn't nor was Dax's but once planted out it will recover quickly....seems like almost over night. I will check on it this coming week. Scions will be available this winter. Also...although Dax takes GREAT pics...the picture doesn't do the plant justice. The colors are so vibrant. It stands out like a beacon in the garden...incredible plant.

I'll make it unanimous on the Pine Grove Gold! Someone could make a lot of money marketing this one! I know I'd save my pennies for it!

Nate, what happend to that 'Filip's Golden Tears'?
Are the brown parts from sun burning, it's only seen in the middle of that specimen...

It's nice to see that it's sister 'Filip's Tearful' is planted close by :0)

Mike, from who did you become your specimen of this cultivar?
It made a nice growing rate last year...

    This is a good thread.

I also really like Ps.men. 'Pine Grove Gold.' Do any of you have an idea of what it's 10-year dimensions are going to be? It would be really cool if some scionwood were to find its way to me sometime this winter . . .

@Mike, your Ch.law 'Filip's Golden Tears' -- is it grafted onto DR understock or is it a rooted cutting? I like this tree a lot but wouldn't think of sacrificing it to the land of Phytophthera. I almost got a nice disease-resistant specimen last winter, but the grower was more interested in expanding his numbers of stock plants. I will try again this fall.

Edwin, I got it from Dax.

Here are some gold Yews of the spreading type. I don't know the name as they weren't labeled when I received them.

It's a rooted-cutting that Nate originally sent to me but lawsoniana while winter hardy is not summer hardy, here. Therefore, I sent it to Mike.

Dave, I'll put you down for some scionwood.

Thanks, Jeff. That Aurea Pendula is a great plant if you can get it sited right & I found the right place, because, I've never seen any burn.

Mike, glad things are 'looking up!' - cannot wait for that view here!

Edwin, yes that larger Filip's Golden Tears gets a lot of sun, and also wind. The smaller one is in a more protected location.
