I'll go with Resin's pics, flipping #'s 1 and #7. Gorgeous photos rc, thanks for sharing them. Dan

Beautiful! Loved trees all my life yet had no idea conifers produce these intricate patterns and colors. Thank you!

Dan: Thanks for playing and for your comments.

Cascadians: Glad I could present something new to you!

Is that it then, just two players - Resin and Dan?

I can get the genus correct, but after that I'm still "all thumbs" when it comes to any conifers outside the usual in my area(South Central US).

So here's what I can get out of the photos:
    1. Picea
    2. Picea
    3. Picea
    4. Abies
    5. Abies
    6. Abies
    7. Picea

If resin is correct(which I suspect he is), then I should know at least the genus of #1 and maybe #5 since you find a decent amount of #1 planted around here, and a few #5, but I've never noticed the cones, since most of the time they are way out of reach. Heck, even my Picea pungens only produces cones about 40' up and higher on the tree!

I meant to say "species of #1..." not "genus of #1..."

OK, sounds like Dan is having some misery about the answers, so at his request....

    1. Picea abies 'Acrocona'
    2. Picea abies 'Rubra Spicata' (I thought the red foliage in the background was going to give this one away.)
    3. Picea orientalis 'Early Gold'
    4. Abies delavay var. forrestii
    5. Abies procera 'Glauca Prostrata'
    6. Abies koreana 'Silberlocke'
    7. Picea abies 'Acrocona' (Yup, a trick. Two cones, one tree.)

You all can work out your own scores, we're on the honor system. :^)

    Thanks for playing!

#3 is Picea orientalis 'Aureospicata' not 'Early Gold'

Sorry gang - I don't even have 'Early Gold' - what was I thinking?

I knew it! I just knew it!

No wait, kleckas knew it...I had no idea, other than it was a Spruce. he he :-)
