I like Tsuga's also. Some species do well here with careful placement while others don't on matter what...heterophylla for one.

Here's one that does quite well here.

    Dave Tsuga canadensis 'Gentsch White'.

I have a 'Lewisii' my self, mine is young but I have also seen a couple of old specimens at Gee's one year and they looked nothing like the one I have pictured. Just my opinion. Been wrong before and will be wrong many X again.

    Hi kmanzvie,

One thing about Tsuga cans is that they can be quite variable based on cultural conditions. Here's a pic of my 'Lewis'

    Tsuga can 'Lewis'

The link below is from Rich's Foxwillow Pines site. The two 'Lewis' pictured there are quite different and this is yet a slightly differtent form:

    http://www.ubcbotanicalgarden.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=28710&d=1189955278

Not saying yours is definately 'Lewis', just a possibility.

I have several cultivars to add, but I don't think it's worth it since most are about three years old. I have a couple older ones that I'll try and get shots of, but the rest will have to grow some legs.

    A couple of more.

    Tsuga can 'Cappies Choice'

A bird's eye view of 'Bennett'

And side-on later in the year when the hosta & brunnera grow in.
    Tsuga can 'Bennett'

Tsuga can 'Moonfrost' (Not too frosty this year)

    Tsuga can 'Dawson'

    Tsuga can 'Jervis'

Tsuga can 'Wood's Goldleaf' (Not much gold in them thar leaves)

I bought this as a 'Bennett' about eight years ago. Obviously not a 'Bennett'

    Tsuga can (Not-a-Bennett)

It's just a bump now and it's blue and, hopefully, it will look like Henk's someday.

    Henk,

The only info I have is that the correct name is probably Tsuga caroliniana 'Planting Fields Arboretum'

Planting Fields Arboretum is situated at Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York State.

I'm sure others will know more.
