Visited Congaree National Park by Columbia, SC the other day with Tom Cox. Lots of very impressive old growth conifers and deciduous trees.

A former state champion Pinus taeda. Apparently an even larger one was later found in the park but this one is still impressive.

Thanks for asking about 'Shot Put' Early reports from Michigan weren't sounding good but wood also went to The Netherlands and Czech Republic so maybe they had better luck. I think next winter I will go collect more wood for wider distribution. I hear the wood from the Pinus pungens broom I found really took off though.

These damn brooms can be stubborn. I appreciate the update. I guess I don't recall your bungeana broom, but congratulations on that! A bungeana broom... what a find.

I've read the National champ Loblolly is in SE VA & nearly 7' in dia.
