many conifer .... like chams.. thuja.. etc... have droopy leaders..

i often wonder how they ever get higher .... but they do ...

but i dont know about DR ... i will try to remember to look around the garden and see how they look on my various plants ...

Thanks Ken. I have 2 of the regular DR's. I got them much larger (6ft) and one of them had a main leader break in the wind. Neither has needed stalking, my concern was if I were to get a baby.

I have had great luck with small bare root dawn redwood.

My "Ogon" looks like it was grafted and even though it was planted small by its second year it seemed to require staking.

It really has grown very well though. Barely any non perfect looking foliage. Now I am in St Louis and it is just not plum in he middle if my yard so it misses out on some morning sun, but still the bright yellow looks great. Heck, it even has cones now.
