This Picea abies 'Reflexa' has been growing two prominent leaders for 6 years. Each fighting for dominance.

This year one of them finally gave up. The one on the top left began to lay down while the strong vertical one put on 18 inches of growth this year asserting itself king of the hill.

I am always amazed how these beautiful conifers usually sort themselves out if given the time.

I always ask myself what is the determining factor in this fight for dominance that wins out.
