Conifers to create screen of green

Posted by jdavenpo none (My Page) on

I am looking for some advice on what conifers to select to create a privacy screen in front of our home (hedge like). I was thinking a chamaecyparis or similar. I am located in southern Ca on the coast.... So it is moderate temp with a lot of sun at times.

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

One of the California native cypresses would be best.

Monterrey Cypress! These grow in the coastal zone around Monterrey. Assume they would grow in the same zone further south.

Might be nice to be different and get Cupressus goveniana or C. pygmaea. Or if you're down by San Diego, try C. forbesii.
