| I came across this Dawn Redwood today in Rock Island, IL. Oddly enough, it was just a few blocks from my previous home but on a less traveled street.

Needn't be that old, I'd guess more likely 30-ish Resin

Judging by the age and size of my 'Ogon' I would say mid 20's. Dave

15-20 probably. I planted a 2-footer in 02 that's 40 feet tall today. (2/3M - 17M in 9 years) The trunk on the one at my old home is almost as thick as that one, so, it seems relative to me. Dax

That is an excellent example of a limbed up metasequoia. Your pics should be on the cards attached to the trees at nurseries. Folks notice the more polite less fluted trunk of the tree Most folks imagine the low limbed examples at botanical gardens when they think metasequoia. Would love to see pics in the fall.

Agree. I'll try to return in the Fall. Will, I know for a fact that in photo 1 the road that continues straight ahead was not there when I was a kid. And that in the photo of the trunk that was a cheap gravely blacktop road when I was a kid. That would have been oh about 1985. Have a good one fella's. Dax

I'm always curious to see what decades some of those plants may have been planted, ecspecially when they aren't the norm.
