Never can say for sure, but since there havenôt been any snakespruces on market ever in finland, i would say this one is natures own creation. Hobbyists tende to put grafted seedlings on their own yards.

Jari, I think Resin means to say if this part of the forest was planted, included this one...

How long have you been observing this tree Jarpe?It looks to be fairly young.Potentially a great addition for an arboretum as I imagine it will be sizable.Good name Edwin,I hope Jarpe uses it.Doug

Ah, yes, thank you Edwin. Site was once an agricultural field wich has since been claimed back by forest. Snakespruce has assumably also appeared there along with the other wild trees unintentionally. Now most of the bushes have been cleared away and you can see the special spruce from your car when you drive by.
My quess for the age would be 20 years.
I agree that Edwinôs name would be nice choice for this one
if brought to market.

Jari, I think this one has a good potential to bring it on the market.
I think we've to give it a try and I would be glad to graft a few next winter.

I will send you some material from it for further investication, Edwin . Here are couple of new crafts from that tree photografted today. Grafting is made high and lower foliage is left at this point for root maintainense, new growth removed from them. I cut upper rootstock immediately when first new green shows on scion.
