Cracked Leader On Weeping White Spruce.

Earlier this year I bought a 5 ft Weeping White Spruce. I noticed today that the leader on my WWS was cracked. It's leaning very much (above the crack) but not cracked enough to be broken all the way through. The crack is about 5 inches from the top of the Spruce.
Is this going to harm my new (and loved) conifer and is there any suggestions for what to do.
