I planted two watnong golds in mostly shade with 2-3 hrs afternoon sun. They get supplemental water from sprinkler.

One is doing fantastic and the other, 3 feet away, perhaps receiving less water had died. I am thinking about replacing but don't want to waste my $$.

Do you think this plant can make it here. I do well with cedars, cryptomeria and columnar podocarpus. I know I can't do abies or pine or thuja or fir. Looking for golden conifers and maybe a couple of blues. Can you suggest anything that has grown in this area with care but not excessive babying?
