It is an annual occurrence with weeping cedars in my area - cedar tip blight. Happens with moist, warm conditions like the bulk of our PNW springs and early summers. Typically disappears as the weather dries. Fixed copper sprays can be effective but by the time you see the obvious symptoms - pinkish brown needles on new growth (primarily) it is too late for it to be very effective.

Yes, becoming quite prevalent - and not limited to weeping forms. A definite spoiler - at least with Mediterranean cedars.

I have a gold atlantica that is infested with Cedar Tip Blight. Down the road a neighbor has one in a more exposed location. It's fine...so far. Maybe if I move mine where it gets more sun and wind.........
I had a weeping glauca over 25 years ago that got it so bad I removed the tree to a burn pile.

Probably related to recent wave of browning of ponderosa and Coulter pines here in that they are all dry climate trees, it apparently having been too moist at the wrong times lately, with specimens not in fully exposed positions perhaps being more prone.

Although some of the browned ponderosa pines seem pretty exposed.

And later I drove past an infested blue Atlas cedar at a farmhouse with fields all around, no other trees shading the conifer.

Thanks for the additional info. It's kinda unsightly until I remove a good amount of material. My neighbor is thinking about removing his tree, which is much smaller.

You can see, mine owns the corner of our lot and the street. I will try spraying in the future.
