Is your plant in some degree of shade for an extended period of time? I've always considered this cultivar to be a bun.

Of course cultivariance is another possibility influenced by scion and/or rootstock or even cultural conditions such as soil/rain/drought/etc- in addition to shade and sunlight.

Yes Dax, your observation is correct in this case, my specimen shown here is in part-shade. It's in bad soil, like most of my conifers, a very dry, fast draining, poor sand but even the specimen I have in the front, shown in the link at the bottom of my first post here, shows some upwards movement, in full sun.

I think it's a slight cultivariance perhaps, as some clearly show more of a bun form. I think also with age, like many fir dwarf/miniatures, it shows upwards habit.
