Thuja Green Giant - 2 Year Progress - Panoramic Photo

This posting is for all who are wondering how fast Thuja Green Giants can grow in Zone 5. This photo was taken standing in my backyard looking at my neighbor's house. To learn the history of these trees go here:

Thuja Green Giant Panorama 2010

Trees 4-7 are all at least 12' tall. Tree 12 is still the runt of the litter but it's taller than me.

Some quick history:

1. Purchased on eBay as 10" seedlings and planted in April 2005 space 5' apart.
2. Only ever mulched as babies, but kept mowed properly.
3. Fertilized only occasionally. Really not much TLC.

As stated in my previous post, I have a dozen more Green Giants on my property that were planted at 3 feet tall. This is much preferred, in my opinion. It takes a couple years for seedlings to become established and really growing well. Buying larger really pays.

Fantastic! Great shot... I got about 35 spaced at 12 feet.... I want some monsters though and am willing to wait for them to fill in.
