| Plant Description:
A dwarf evergreen conifer with a dense round form. Needles are blue-green above with white undersides. Originated as a witch's broom mutation. Prefers full sun in well-drained soil. 2' tall x 2' wide in 10 years. Hardy to -40 degrees. USDA zone 3. More information, taken from the web page of Bob Fincham. Picea omorika 'Gunter' was originally just called 'Hexenbesen'. Its uniqueness required more than just an indication that it was developed from a witches' broom. Picea omorika 'Gunter' develops a globose shape with some apicality, but not enough to make it conical. It grows about 50% faster than the similar 'Pimoko'. The needles are more evenly spread around each shoot, whereas on 'Pimoko' they appear more two dimensional. Dave |

My older specimen. Bought as 'Hexenbesen'.  Another specimen, apparently the same plant, labeled as 'Gunther', but is incorrectly listed, as it should be Picea omorika 'Gunter'. -Will |
