i would not cut stuff off until next year ...

i would not fert an already stressed plant ...

and i would probably take them out and put in the fence .... good fences makes good neighbors ... especially if he did the spraying .... maybe he will chip in on the cost ...

if your garden is very small .... you are wasting a lot of prime space on large.. old.. trees .. and all i ask is.. WHY???

i have been considering getting rid of it.it e=was actually accidentally poisined by my brother when i asked him to deal with the bramble.ill give it until next late spring

the thing is i have a plan to include several flowering shubs in the old strip.then have the area just under the decking up to about a third of the garden as a big summer flowerbed.I also want to include a sizeable pond about halfway down there and also have a thaliciforum and lilac bed at the bottom.If i were to remove the hedge and replace it with a wooden slat fence similar to the one you can see just past the resovoir tank along where the hedge is it can give me a little bit more extra space especially for the pond(i also want to get a slightly larger shed) and have climbing plants and other small flowering shrubs.Also i more easily put down electronic fencing along that side of the garden and im hoping to get a largeish dog
