Ken Adrian - Help

Pat z6 MI

(Couldn't think of another way to get your attention.) . . . .and anyone else who can help me:
I just received a Cryptomeria japonica, Japanese Cedar, from Thuja Gardens in North Carolina (highly recommend, by the way) in a 3 gallon pot, about 4 feet high. I think I'm in Michigan Zone 6 now, although Ken thinks he's in Zone 5. Anyway, this cedar is listed for Zone 6-9.

I was planning on planting it tomorrow (Sunday). My question is would it be better for me to keep it watered in the attached garage until Spring to plant? I sense that Ken thinks we may have ground freeze sooner rather than later, no? Ken?
