Such a large, meaty nut from a conifer is indeed rare.

Interesting that this plant is related to Yews yet is not toxic. (in which the red aril is edible, but the contents of the seed toxic) The English name is nutmeg pine...is it the nut that has a spicy flavor?

The nut tastes like Brazilian nut with pine nut flavor.
