what to with weeping blue atlas

Several years I planted two contorted weeping blue atlas cedars but due to our coastal climate they never overcame needle blight. I wanted to cull them but my partner was resistant to remove them due to their cartoony pelican look. So, I planted blue potatoe vines and so far I enjoy the look. I had thought about clematis, and may do in the future, but for now, I'm enjoying the colorful entrance to the garden.
