the use of common names surprises me.. as i am positive ... you guys went above and beyond nomenclature..

Congrats to you and Jan, Sara! I think the key words are primer and newbie. It was just a few short years ago that I mostly lurked here as I only knew the common names. Once I realized I had to learn the proper names to run with the big dogs it wasn't much of a stretch to do so. It's opened up quite a new world for me. Thanks for doing that for others, Sara!

Ken I don't think a video is in the works although once the reporter (a free lance) found us, she said she would pitch other articles. I never used a single common name - the reporter managed to find those herself! So many people are intimidated by the botanical names and they shouldn't be. It just isn't that hard to learn them. My husband, for example, who is not a gardener and wasn't able to tell a Picea from a Petunia when I met him, ONLY knows botanical names. That's because that's all I taught him!
