Metasequoia regeneration?

Interested to hear who's seen self-sown Metasequoia seedlings, where.

I saw a claim made in a scientific paper that Metasequoia can't be considered very cold-hardy as it won't regenerate (they said) where winter temperatures fall below -10ðC. I don't believe this, but it would be nice to know the hard facts of where it is regenerating.

One place that it doesn't regenerate is Britain, as the summers here are too cold for it to develop viable seeds.
