The importance of form and foliage.......:-))

Our very own formandfoliage - Sara - has a lovely article on the importance of this essential garden design criteria in the December issue of Fine Gardening magazine. Featuring photos of her own California garden, Sara deftly illustrates how form and foliage should rule the visual aspect of a garden with any flowers just the icing on the cake. Makes for a low maintenance, year-round good looking garden as well. Of course, a lot of us conifer fans have already figured that one out :-))

Sara has a gorgeous garden and a great way with words. And anyone would consider inclusion in a national publication of that caliber in the plant world quite the feather in one's cap. Or the cone on the top of one's branch!! Check it out - December 2013 issue of Fine Gardening.

Thanks for the heads up gardengal.Many of us who have gotten to know this dynamo of a human being these last couple of years can do little but admire her energy and
willingness to move the message of conifer inclusion forward.She manages to accomplish her goal without obvious bias toward genus and steps on few toes in her
convincing message of gardening satisfaction through the
exploration of cone bearing plants.I look forward to this article!D.

Her place looks like heaven. She lives in an incredible climate and has a keen sense for mixing shapes and colors. I can only hope my gardening future looks like something similar and I do hope more earnestly to make a visit the next time I am near Napa.

Awesome - Congrats! If I lived closer, I would love to come take a tour of your garden. Unfortunately, for now I'll just have to enjoy the photos you post in your blog. The wife and I aren't much on travel... to busy to drive and being afraid of heights, we don't fly.
