I completely agree with you, Will. In my list (what plants I still want) this one is slowly taken off the top:) Your little procera is so wonderful and healthy!!

I lost (2) to the horrid hot weather this summer. I always wanted one, however, now I know. I have one procera left, 'Delbar Cascade'. It's holding on for now.

I hear ya, Dax. I've killed three 'Blaue Hexe', among other procera. Didn't matter what time of year I planted them, I couldn't keep them alive for a year. Seems 'Hupp's Dwarf' is the only one to live for me.

Mine's at the stage of your first pic so it'll be interesting to see if the longer branches begin to form next season.

I lost mine this summer, even though it was planted where it was protected from the afternoon sun . What's the problem with proceras ? Dry atmosphere maybe? T.

quite the opposite, Tunilla. It's humidity that will take out a procera really quick. Also I believe that Abies in general don't tolerate prolonged stretches of warm nights. Doesn't seem to matter how hot they get during the day, but they seem to be happiest when the nights cool to below 15C degrees (50F of so).

On the rare occasion this occurs in the Pacific Northwest, I have put ice around the bases of my procera and lasiocarpa brooms. Don't know if it helps the plant, but it does my piece of mind a lot of good.

Ahhh - THIS is the little conifer that's done me in! In my search for a "small, fat-branched, round, blue conifer that won't get larger than 2 feet", I have since taken a HUGE leap into the conifer-addiction-abyss!!! I at least now know some of the terms should've been "miniature" and "globose"... At any rate, I had the PERFECT spot for this little guy! And twenty-two conifer purchases in the last three weeks later, I STILL haven't gotten one... Sigh. One day! Probably not until next Spring though. :) Yours is absolutely gorgeous!!
