Thanks for the info. I am looking at a staggered grouping of five for the east side of my driveway, at either end I have picea (one is p. glauca var. densata 'Black Hills', at the other is p. abies. Moving inward will be a p.flexilis 'Vanderwulf's Pyramid' and an abies concolor. In the center I would like a lighter flushing p. pungens. It would have the recommended partial shade and be protected from late spring frosts. I was thinking of the lighter colored flush as opposed to gold or bright yellow, as I am also planning a grouping of three at the corner of the old barn foundation, probably about a good 150' away, consisting of another p. pungens (thinking of p.pungens 'Koster'), p.orientalis 'Skylands' and p.heldriechii 'Iseli fastigiate'.

i have the pungens version of iseli fastigate ... whatever name it might now have ....

after 3 ice storms.. and too much snow load... its a nightmare ...

i cant see a pine version doing any better ... depending on where you are in relation to heavy snows ...
