| Found this interestig pine in a public garden, a two-needle pine very similar to the austrian black pine, but the bark is different and it has a more piramidal habit. Does anyone have any sugestions?

| Any cones you can get photos of? Looks like there may be one or two near the top. Also, the needles I can see on pic #3 look to be in 3s, not 2s. How long are they? There should be plenty on the ground you can measure. My tentative identification is Pinus jeffreyi, but I'd like to see more details to be sure. Resin |

| the needles are a bit longer than of the mentiones austrian black pine, and I'm sure they are in twos. The cones are medium, also very similar to the black pine, but they are stouter and of dark broun color. |

| There's definitely 3 needles per fasicle in part of the clusters...I assume the pines not in question are Pinus sylvestris? Johnny |

| The cones sound too small for P. jeffreyi. Maybe P. ponderosa subsp. scopulorum? That has needles mixed 2s and 3s. Sorry Johnny, definitely not P. sylvestris, that has much shorter needles (around 5 cm) virtually always in 2s. Resin |

I googled P. ponderosa subsp. scopulorum as pineresin suggested and i found obvious similarities in all aspects, but most of all in this bark detail:  |
